For an odd-shaped mat sometimes the right dimensions can allow us to waive the template requirement. In addition to the perimeter dimensions, the sketch at left shows each diagonal dimension required on this particular shape. Call us at 1-800-233-8493 (Bill Lorimer or Ed Breon) and we can enter your dimensions in AutoCad to determine if we can proceed without a template or communicate to you which dimensions are needed to ensure a proper fit of the odd-shaped grid or mat.
New Construction
With new construction, oversize your pit 2" for mats, 3" for grids from the required size of the exposed frame. This will allow the unit to be installed easily with non-shrink grout then poured up to the frame.
After the pit has been created, supply dimensions "A" and "B" as shown. (This is for the outside of exposed frame) This is the size to which we will make the frame. The mat/grid will then fit in the frame.
Existing Construction
With existing contruction, supply the size of the recessed pit, the overall size of the vestibule, or the size to which you want the outside of the frames to be installed.
With existing construction, often the product is intended to fit within an established area. In this case, please supply the size of the area as Dim "A" and Dim "B" shown above. We will make the frame to those dimensions and the mat to fit the frame.
Traffic direction
Correct traffic direction is very important to establish. The "A" dimension is the width of the unit. The "B" dimension is the length that the traffic walks in order for the unit to act as a foot scraper.
Split location
Maximum width of one section of mat or grid is 12'.
Maximum traffic direction of grid modules is 3'0". Several modules can be used to fill a vestibule.
Maximum mat sizes are based upon a 200 lb. maximum weight per dection (average wt 2 lb. per sq ft) do that the sections can be easily handled during maintenance.
